I adopted Nika in the midst of a chaotic time in my life. Go-go-go all the time - playing this sport, seeing these friends. I was having fun but unfulfilled.
I wasn't actively seeking a dog, but she followed me around nudging my ankles with her tiny wet nose. I picked her up & she fell asleep on my shoulder. She chose me.
I had no idea how rewarding dog ownership could be! She grounds me. She makes me a better & more loving person. She brings me such joy!
And in turn, I gladly spoil her. She loves the Minnehaha off-leash dog park, softball games & snowbanks. And especially "The Most Expensive Dog Toys Ever"...she got a Jeep this summer and a treadmill this winter :)
I also knew I'd met the man I was going to marry when she immediately took to him as her other best friend.
