The sound of this band is crisp & dirty. I have seen the Dives at Lee's Liquor Lounge and the Fine Line Café. Loved both venues and all three performances. Can't wait to go back for more! Very talented group of young guys that play with real passion. Thank you to the Dives! I hope you get a shot to play the 7th Street show.

I'm proud to be friends of the members of this band. I've seen them at Arcadia, Honey, Lee's Liquor and their last show at the Fine Line on the 22nd. Every show they have had has been packed out, especially the Fine Line, I could barely maneuver through the crowd to the bar. I talked to the Manager and he said it was one of the best local shows he has had in there. I know this is a contest, but really I just love music and have enjoyed the Artists on this page. Hopefully the synergy produced by all these acts will propel each other to new heights. I want to see the Minneapolis local scene blow up and I hope the DIVES are a part of it and make it to the 7th Street show.

I heard this group on the Current and looked them up. I really like their song, "87 Twins" I found it buried on their SoundCloud site. I like all genres of music, but tend to lean towards the Hip Hop side of things. Dives do make my top 5, along with KNOX, Hustle Rose, Mac Irv and Danami and The Blue. Twin Cities is bringing some talent to the table these days.

If I could have lunch with 3 entries from, "Are You Local, 7th Annual Best New Band Search", I would pick Dives, Mac Irv and Porno Wolves. My first question to the Dives would be, Did it Hurt? I would quickly follow that with, "when you fell from heaven." Then I would sit back and let them respond in the form of song.
In my mind, the Dives self titled EP, the new Adele album, 25, Radiohead - Kid-A and Miles Davis - Some Kind of Blue - would be put on random and would play continuously, All Day, Everyday" in Heaven.

If you are familiar with the term, "Minneapolis Sound", you know that this term refers to synth sounds replacing horns, mixed with elements of funk and rock... think Prince or The Time. Dives have an updated version of that "Minneapolis Sound", they bring in the Synth, and surround it with growling blues guitar, funky yet dance-able bass and great harmony. Retro yet Modern. Polished yet Raw. Tight yet Relaxed. Upbeat yet Chill.
Dives, thanks for creating music that makes life more interesting.

I've sen these guys several times around town, it seems they always pack the house and bring excitement to the stage. Their music makes you want to move, but also holds your attention when listening intently due to the non-standard arraignments and intricate musicianship demonstrated on their EP. The infectious melodies and sing-ability also bring to the table a band that you want to listen to time and time again.
As a person deeply connected to the Twin Cities music scene I want to be represented by this band in Austin, TX.
