What is this?
Vita.mn wants to celebrate great Minnesota artists by commissioning a mural to be installed on the 331 Club’s outward-facing wall at 13th Ave and University on Art-a-Whirl where it will hang for one whole year! The winning artist will receive recognition and a bunch of great prizes. The artist will need to work closely with Vita.mn and 331 staff from conception to execution. Materials for mural installation will be donated.

How does it work?
Are you a Minnesota artist? Submit a sketch proposal (crafted to size comparable with 10’hx20’w which is the width of available space for the mural) along with your personal information and vision statement as to what your piece of public art will mean to you.

Nominations will be open through April 29th and on the 30th voting will open to the general public. Readers and users can vote on their favorite pieces. These votes will be tallied and taken into consideration by our panel of judges who will ultimately choose a winner whose piece will be installed on May 15th for Art-a-Whirl weekend! Artists submitting their work must be able to produce their work in time at the requested canvas scale (10'h x 20'w) and be on-site to assist in installation.

What's at stake here?
The winning artist will not only be featured in an upcoming issue of Vita.mn and be able to showcase their work for one full year but will also receive $500 cash and a $500 gift certificate redeemable for art supplies!
